Bringing Clean Water to Communities in Need: HBA Foundation’s Water Well Project
Access to clean drinking water is a daily struggle for countless communities around the world. Through our Clean Drinking Water Project, the HBA Foundation is working to change this reality by constructing water wells in Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Pakistan. So far, we have successfully completed a total of 77 water wells, including 11 wells in Sierra Leone and 66 boreholes fitted with electric motors in Pakistan.
Each of these wells represents more than just water – it’s a life-changing gift of health, ease, and hope for those in need. A well is also a form of Sadqah Jariyah (continuous charity), offering ongoing blessings for the donor.

The construction process varies by location:
- Pakistan – Boreholes here reach approximately 400 feet, requiring all materials, labour, and a custom plaque. Each borehole, fitted with either a hand pump (Nalka) or an electric motor, costs £550 and takes about 1-2 weeks to complete.
- Sierra Leone – These deep wells, approximately 200 feet, are entirely hand-dug due to local conditions. With materials, labour, and a plaque, each well costs £3,200 and takes about 8 weeks to complete.
Inspired by the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who said the best form of charity is to provide water, we are committed to expanding this project to even more communities with the support of your donations. Together, we can bring this essential resource to those who need it most, creating a lasting impact and blessings for generations to come.
